Hamdi Kasraoui
Hamdi Kasraoui is a Tunisian goalkeeper who is waiting for his chance in the sun. Currently, he is the second choice goalkeeper
for both his country and his club Espérance.
It is not that Kasraoui’s skills have not been recognized. This Tunisian goalkeeper has been part of his country’s squad in the
2004 Olympics, 2005 Confederations Cup and the 2006 African Cup of Nations. But he is yet to come out of the shadows of Tunisia’s number one
goalkeeper, the celebrated Ali Boumnijel.
The 192 cm Kasraoui is rated as a very fine prospect by most football experts. They feel that this 1983 born Tunisian keeper has
a long and illustrious career ahead of him. Some Tunisians even compare him to another great Tunisian goalkeeper -- Chokri El-Ouaer. This is a
great compliment for Kasraoui, who is desperate to become his country’s first choice beneath the bars.
What must irk Kasraoui more is the fact that he is not the first choice goalkeeper for his club Esperance too. There he has to
play deputy to Jean-Jacques Tizie, the Ivory Coast goalkeeper.
But these are only temporary hiccups. Kasraoui should soon get what is due to him.
