Artur Boruc: a rising European star
Artur Boruc, who was born in 1980 in Poland, is rated very high by his contemporaries, some of whom consider him as one of the rising stars in European soccer. He has already risen quickly to become the first choice goalkeeper for Poland. Besides this, he is also the first choice goalkeeper for Celtic, a club that he joined in 2005.
Boruc had initially moved to Celtic on a year-long loan from his Polish club but has now cemented his position with a three and a half year contract. Boruc started playing professional football in 1998-99. Among the clubs that he has played for are: Pogon Siedlce, Legia II Warszawa (second team), Dolcan Zabki/Legia Warszawa, Legia Warszawa and Celtic F.C.
Boruc has had a great time with Celtic, where he played a stellar role in the club’s Scottish Premier League title success in 2005-06. Earlier, Boruc had helped Legia Warsaw, win the Polish league in 2001-02.
Boruc, who never loses his cool under the bars, is known by several nicknames. These include names like "Artek Borutz", "Borsuk", "Lala","Arczi" and "Borul". He is quite popular both on and off the field, and has endeared himself to the Celtic fans.
He is undoubtedly a goalkeeper with a great future.
